Our areas of expertise

Are you a national of the European Union or of a non-EU country wishing to enter or reside in Belgium? Our law firm can provide you with professional, personalised assistance from A to Z, from the moment you submit your application through to the decision by the competent authorities and any appeals that may be lodged.

Long-stay visa (Visa D)

If you wish to stay in Belgium for more than 3 months, you will need a D visa or national long-stay visa. We can help you submit an application specific to your situation:

Schengen visa (Visa C)

If you are a national of a country outside the Schengen area and wish to stay in Belgium for a short period, you will need a Schengen visa. It can be issued for various reasons: holidays, business trips, family visits, etc.

The length of your authorised stay in the Schengen area will be determined by the “Office des Étrangers” or by the competent Belgian diplomatic office on the basis of your dossier. This stay may not exceed 90 days out of a period of 180 days, and you will be asked to provide information on the reasons for your visit.

Maître Sadek will carefully examine your application, work with you to put together the dossier needed to obtain the C visa, and assist you throughout the entire procedure, including in the event of refusal.

Residence of European Union citizens

As a citizen of the European Union, you have the right to enter and reside freely in Belgium on presentation of your identity card or passport. With certain exceptions, however, you will be required to report your presence in the country to the local authority in the place where you are staying within 10 working days of entering Belgium.

To stay in Belgium for more than 3 months, you must meet one of the following conditions: working or looking for work in Belgium, having sufficient financial resources, or studying.

Whatever your situation, we can guide you through each of the steps involved in legalising your stay or that of your family.

Long-term resident status

If you are a national of a country outside the European Union and you have been legally resident in Belgium for 5 years without interruption, and provided you meet certain conditions, you can acquire long-term resident status. This allows you to stay in Belgium permanently, without having to renew your residence permit regularly.

We can help you apply to the local authority in your place of residence for long-term resident status (L card). To do this, you will need to prove that you have sufficient resources to support yourself and your dependent family members.

Renewal or change of status

If you are already legally resident in Belgium and would like to obtain a residence permit on a different legal basis, we can help you with your application to change your status. For example, changing:

We will guide you every step of the way, providing clear legal advice and quality representation.

If your residence permit is about to expire, we will also take care of your renewal applications.

Belgian nationality

Obtaining Belgian nationality has many advantages, as you will have the same rights as Belgian citizensHowever, there are a number of strict conditions to be met. We provide clear and precise information on the conditions you need to meet in order to qualify for Belgian nationality.

After 5 years of legal and uninterrupted residence in Belgium, and provided you hold an unlimited or permanent residence permit, you can consider acquiring Belgian nationality by making a declaration of nationality before the civil registrar in your municipality.

We can help you by checking that you meet the relevant conditions (integration, language learning, economic participation or participation in the life of the host community). These conditions may vary depending on the length of your stay in Belgium and your individual situation.

Because each case is unique, we invite you to contact us and explain your situation using the form at the bottom of this page. We will try to respond quickly and effectively to your needs.
